Boiler Feed Selection Process
Our most common boiler feed systems can be selected using the chart below.
The pumps listed are based on 125psi boiler pressure.
1 |
Select a tank size (gallons of capacity) which is about the same,
or somewhat larger, than your boiler horsepower. |
2 |
Select your construction materials. A steel tank with cast iron/bronze
fitted pump(s) for the lowest initial cost; or an all stainless steel
system for long life and best value. Steel tanks have an average life
of 3-6 years. Stainless tanks are warranted for 20 years, and may be
the last tank you ever need to buy. Cast iron/bronze fitted pumps are
warranted for 1 year; stainless pumps for 5 years. |
3 |
Decide whether you need a simplex or duplex system. A simplex system
(one pump) typically needs no control panel because most boiler manufacturers
include motor starters in their control panel. But if you decide to
go this way, keep a spare pump available to avoid down time.A safer
alternative (if downtime is critical) is to install a duplex (2 pump)
system with alternating control panel (optional). The control will
alternate pump use and if a pump fails, allows you to flip a switch,
and the remaining pump will keep your boiler operating while you repair
the defective pump. |
Our complete system includes: tank, stand, make-up valve,
sight gauge, drain valve, pump(s), isolation valve(s), inlet strainer(s),
and piping |
